Boulder, Colo. (Nov. 2017)  – Boulder-based Room 214, a digital and social media agency, placed No. 7 on the list of Outside Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work in America.

The contest surveys employees at firms from a wide variety of industries, aiming to honor companies that are great workplaces that also respect the environment and encourage a balance between work and enjoying life outdoors.

“We are delighted to be included in such fine company,” said Room 214 Co-founder Jason Cormier. “We’ve learned a great place to work is one where choice, community and contribution are all part of the culture. We’ve also learned culture thrives when values are in play. We’re not talking about values relegated to clever quips on a poster in a break room, but real beliefs we can articulate and practice together. The outcome is people who are inspired to create valuable relationships, give back, do their best and act out of love instead of fear.”

Some of the features of the Room 214 culture include a dog-friendly office, profit sharing, open book management and unlimited time off. The agency also encourages professional and personal development, and celebrates giving back to the community.

This year’s winner was Aspen’s Forum Phi Architecture. Colorado firms were honored with six of the Top 10 spots. The full list of winners and their attributes can be found at Outside Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work in 2017.

“Companies from across the country entered a rigorous two-part survey process to make the winning list,” said Jonah Ogles, articles editor at Outside Magazine.  “The Best Companies Group evaluates each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. There’s also an employee survey to measure personal experience.”

The winning companies are those that value productivity in combination with an active, eco-conscious lifestyle, for a fulfilling experience inside and outside the office. This is Outside’s tenth year providing the Best Places to Work.
